How often repack bearings
Hi, I own a Jayco 1006. I've been out maybe twice last summer. How often should I repack my bearings? Any general rule of thumb? Thanks

Dexter recommends every year or 12,000 miles. I completely ignored that and did mine for the first time 3 years after we bought the TT. I may have put 3,000 miles on the camper in 3 years. IMO, annually is excessive when you aren’t putting many miles on the bearings.

I do mine every 2 years which is about 7500 miles. Better safe than sorry. I give the axles 2 squirts of grease in mid summer and no more as I have no desire to pop a seal. My dealer says he sees way to many blown seals and a resultant mess so I follow his suggestion

1006.... WOW, That is an old Jayco!
Actually, Pennsylvania requires trailers to be inspected every year. So, when they pull 2 wheels off to check brakes, I request they let me look at the bearings. I document which wheels were pulled and the next year I have them pull the other 2. Bearings and grease looked very good so far. Mine is a 2016 purchased in October of 2016. Just completed out third camping season.

Every 2 years or 10,000 miles, whichever comes first. Routine has worked great for decades for me (repack & check brakes).

Same here. We log 5-7k a year and every other year during the off season here in early January, I have mine inspected and re-packed.

North if you have Dexters do you give them a shot of grease once in awhile or just repack?

I NEVER put grease in them. When I purchased it new, the brakes seals and drums were covered in grease making the brakes useless. No one owned up to it but they were all replaced under warranty. It came to me that way and all new brake assemblies was the cure.
