Inside lights not working!

We recently bought a 2001 Jayco Qwest 10X. The inside ceiling lights do not work. All other electrical devices DO work. We changed the bulbs and inspected the wire as much as we could. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks for your help. Can't wait to go camping!

Have you checked the fuses/breakers?

Have you located the fuse panel and checked the fuse? The 12V system fuses are automotive style plug-ins and the panel should labeled.

If I remember correctly there is a wire that runs up one of the roof posts that can be un-plugged. Make sure that it is plugged in or that the connection is tight. Also be sure the converter is turned on. That switch may be accesible under the dinette.

The picture below is of a Quest 10x 2004....but may be close. Do you have a black box like the one under the bench? Look for a similar box / cover panel

All of the Fuses are working fine, Is there some sort of safety feature that would prevent the overhead lights from turning on if the popup is not fully raised?

Yes. Most pop-ups have a galley switch that is activated when the sink is flipped up. This is to insure the lights cannot be left on which could cause the bunks to catch fire when popped down. Where is it located? Don't know. You will just have to search for it. It will probably be a push button switch like your car door has to turn on the dome light.

The camper is raised almost all the way (it's in the garage, unable to raise it completely) but it's high enough to walk in etc. and the other lights inside and out, fridge, receptacles, and the roof mounted A/C all operate.

Is the galley/sink flipped up? I guess it is possible the safety switch could be dependent on the top being fully raised.

X2 on the galley switch. My trailer has a fold over sink/stove cabinet and when it is in its upright position it pushes down a push-button switch to enable the ceiling lights. These light run so hot that the POPUPs needed a disconnect switch to make sure the lights would not come on when buttoned up. Might start a fire...

Sometimes this switch is not being totally pushed on for one reason or another. Mine has a special piece that aligns with the push button head. Perhaps yours is not aligned right or something else is keeping the fold-over cabinet from fully being flush against the push button switch. You can push the switch down with your finger and see if the ceiling lights will come on.

I suspect the safety push button switch is under this sink top cabinet.

Galley sink is in place. Can't find a switch, button or anything.

I have a 2010 model 1007, and there is a safety shutoff switch under the roof that contacts the sidewall when you lower the top. Mine is easily bent and deformed into the off position, and I could see that being a potential cause of no lights if yours is so equipped. On mine that switch is near the driver's side rear roof post.

go with the N.S.RUNNER post... Starcraft must have done it different than JAYCO...

Maybe someone with the same JAYCO popup will dime in soon. Just look around for something that happens when the trailer is setup in camping mode. The foldover cabinet - the tent bed pulled out - the entrance door installed - the roof being raised - something that is setup when you are ready for camping...

It certainly sound like this is what is keeping your ceiling lights from coming on. Just have to locate the darn switch haha...

Once you find it you will say "So thats what that is for haha" Maybe you still have the owners manual for it around.

Keep us posted

I finally fixed it! There was an emergency shutoff switch on the outside, right beside the driverside rear pole. One of the wires was loose there, and just had to be connected.

Thanks for the help
