installing 12v water pump

The hand pump faucet in my 1998 Eagle is bad. Rather than replace it, I want to install a 12v pump, but I'm not sure where to start. Where do I tie in to the power? Picture is the cabinet under the sink - there are wires running along the back. Can I just use those?

I don't have a unit like yours, but would think it might not be too difficult to run a pair of dedicated wires from the battery. You could try tracing those wires but just tapping into them would be guessing that they aren't just going to brake lights. Wouldn't want to have to step on the brakes to fill a pot for coffee.

As Cosmik said just run a wire from the battery to a switch then to the pump, this way you can turn off power to the pump from inside your trailer.

There are also these wires in the bottom of the cabinet I can trace them to the battery, and they look like they are going into the converter. Can I use these?

Maybe. I would trace them the other way to understand what loads are already on that circuit. You would also need to know what the draw of the pump motor is. Since you have traceability back, do you have the ability to pull a new wire? Do you have a spare fuse position in your power distribution? I would probably just run a new line if I could; then no worry about overloading a circuit.

Is that the only water line to the sink as well in the pic? If yes, you have no pressure plumbing in the pup? That means you will need to add some pex between the pump and the (new) faucet to handle the pressure flow side of the pump. If you also have external water, you will want to research how to properly plumb into that system so that you can use either source.

Might want to keep in mind to place a fuse in line for protection
