Lift system

So we just purchased a 1989 cardinal 6...
Lifted it up with no problems to do a cleaning and when we went to let it down it got just about closed and then stopped cranking. We got it back back up , but the crank won't catch to crank down. Any suggestions on how to fix it? Thank you

Welcome to the forum, but unfortunately I have no experience with that type of trailer. I'll bet someone that does some experience will be along before too long.

start tracing all the wires (one to a corner) all the way for broken, kinked or rusted wires. Also check and lube your winding mechanism. You may have something broken but check the easy stuff first.

This happened to me when I had my pup. If you have open eye connectors going from the main plate to the cables they can become disconnected if you crank down too much. I opened up as many walls as I could to see how the system worked. Sure as sheet all four connectors were as mentioned. I replaced them with closed eye bolts and joined them to the cables with a threaded chain link. You can see in the pic the eye bolt opened on me mostly likely from me over cranking. Pic shows one replaced connector. I did all four and adjusted the cables to raise the top equally.
