Need help getting camper set up

I just purchased a used 1997 Jayco Eagle pop up camper. It has a pump sink and I feel like an idiot, but I do not know how to get the water to come out. I put a hose in the intake water supply, and pumped the handle and nothing comes out. There is a water pump under one of the seats (how do I hook this up). Nothing was leaking but nothing came out. It is a single sink. We have never owned a pop up and are going out on our first trip next weekend. We thought it would be nice to have a starter camper and hopefully upgrade. I know I am missing something. The owners manual doesn't seem to be very helpful and the previous owners didn't offer much advise when we purchased it. Can you please help...... Thank you

It may have lost prime. Can you see water in the line? Try pumping and placing a finger over the faucet as you pump. Do you feel any resistance at all? If not the washers may have dried out. Can you post a picture of the electric pump. It should just have two wires, suction and discharge lines.

hand pump

(Assuming yours is like the hand pump faucet we had in our previous pop up):

If you have water in your fresh water tank, you pull up and pump.

If you have a water hose hookup, you press the handle down to use the pressurized water system.

You also have to open the faucet before pumping.

When I plugged in the electrical the pump did work. There is not a holding tank so we used a bucket and the water came out of the sink. I think there is an issue with the hand pump and we are going to try to replace it today and see if this helps, still cannot get fresh water. I will update later tonight.

The strange thing is, when we hooked up the water hose, we checked to see if there was anything blocking the line, and there is water coming directly to the hand pump, we slightly unscrewed the water connection to the sink and verified that there is water there, but it will not come out of the pump. When we put water in a bucket and turn on the electrical pump, the water just flows free out of the sink and there is no way to stop it unless we turn off the pump.

Update**** We replaced the faucet and now can get water from the fresh water supply. Thank you for your help. The faucet must have been faulty will have to look at it closer today and determine exactly what the problem with it was.

My apologies. The last pop-up I dealt with had a hand-pump faucet.

It was really neat. When on city water you twisted the top to open and close the valve. When using the water tank, you twisted the top 3 or 4 turns past full open and then the top became a piston pump that drew water from the tank.

I ass-u-me-d that was the setup you had in your camper.

Again, my apologies for being a presumptuous idiot.

No you are not al all, we did have a manual pump, but replaced with a basic basin fauce since we had no idea how the hand pump worked. After your post that makes more sense, I would have never figured that out. Well see hot this weekend goes. Put a mini fridge on the place of the "icebox" and replaced an old nonworking vent. So hoping it will prove to be very enjoyable and I may once again go camping instead of staying in hotels. Thank you again.

Just to set the record straight, I love using self-deprecating humor. I am paid quite well as a network & data base administrator and programmer. I call may job "teaching computers to be helpful around the office".

It took me quite a bit to figure out THAT faucet. And it was only after the entire weather-beaten interior had been gutted. A neighbor converted the trailer into a mobile chicken coop.

A faucet-pump like that really needs the instruction clearly printed on it!
