New Jayco pop up

Hello, I am picking up our new pop up in 10 days and heard about seasoning the stitching. Is this something that I need to do prior to going on our first trip for a weekend? Does wetting the canvas have any draw backs?
Cheers,
Mike

No real drawback. If anything, it'll show any leaks that may be present and give you a chance to address them. Better to know in the driveway than in the CG. Just fyi, I never seasoned my pop up and never had a problem. Lucky I guess! Good luck!

Think I have seen some SEAMS SPRAY for tents at WALMART. Check in their camping sections perhaps...

Probably wouldn't hurt to spray new tent seams with something like this.

I have have never done anything like that with mine - I would just go camping in it and see what leaks haha...

I remember when I first setup my POPUP trailer in the back yard getting used to how things work before going camping in it I had to get the broom after the cat a couple of times to keep him off the top of the popup tent material... He probably dug in pretty good with his claws...

Seasoning the tent, is nothing more, than swelling the stitching. We did not do this immediately on our htt. All you do is spray a light mist of water over the tent a few times. Our tent end stitching has never leaked.

I would NOT apply any tent seam sealer.

Have had our 2017 12UD out 6 times since purchasing it last July. It has rained almost every time out and no canvas leaks. However... the weather stripping on top of the travel door is torn and does leak if traveling in heavy rain. It is on a short punch list for the dealer. This trip the only issue I had to deal with was no 12v power to the lights & fan. (they worked fine when we set it up to de-winterize last weekend) Traced it back to a faulty safety switch (located by the top of the rear support post, nearest the water & power) I just by passed it for the weekend, (access to the wires is from inside behind the short curtain that is velcroed above the windows) the red wires just run to & from the switch. the dealer can replace it when they are replace a curtain that is a foot too narrow. Overall we like the Pop Up, all the stuff that needs attention are pretty minor.
