New Journey Begins

I greased the bearing, bought some new tires and put them on this morning. We hooked up to my truck and to much surprise all the lights outside worked just as they did in 1997, the last time we took the trailer on the road. Side markers, turn signals, brake lights, back up lights, everything worked. The hydraulic brake system is shot so I pulled it to my place without brakes, but it was all flat. Of course halfway from my grandmother's place to my house it started raining. Of all days....

Anyway, here it is. It pulled dead on level, but its already unhooked from the truck, so I little high in the front. I didn't want to take pictures in the rain, just wanted to get it in a place and get inside.

Pretty amazing that all the lights still work after 19 years!

Is there a specific weight of trailer that can be towed that doesn't need additional trailer breaks where you live?

Up in Canada it seems to vary between 2000lbs and 3000lbs depending on the province.

Are you going to fix up the hydraulics or switch to electric brakes?

Yep, not even a burned out bulb. And most of those are original 1992 bulbs.

In Texas under 3400 pounds doesn't require brakes. Technically since it HAS brakes, they should work if you are going to tow. Sometimes you gotta go what you gotta do though.

I am leaning towards switching over to electric brakes before it goes anywhere else. I am sure not going to take trips back to the mountains without brakes.

Okay, but it's a trailer not a boat. Next time don't park it in the lake...

It wasn't a lake when I left this morning, just when I got back with the trailer. I had no choice.
