Popup Tires

I have a 2015 Jay Series 1209SC we purchased new in 2014.
It came with ST175/80R13D tires. I always fill to sidewall pressure of 50psi.
Since new the tires always look like they are going flat. I have had 3 blowouts traveling on I75 at 60-65mph. We keep the camper as light as possible. I am on 3rd set of tires. Camper is garage kept.
It seems to me like they are undersized. Has anyone had similar experiences or any experience going to a larger size tire?

Think about how many revolutions a 13" tire has to make at 65 mph.

I would be making a trip to my local Discount Tire or similar and talking with the experts about what tire is going to work best for your situation. Tires in Florida and Arizona, like Texas and other hot/sun states degrade in very short order. Even garaged. Dry rot and sitting on the same spot for months.

What is the PSI called for on the tire sidewall? You may be running under inflated, then the tire will run too hot.

He said 50 which is what he is inflating to.

Thank you for the responses. I believe that I’ve found the issue.
Since new the sidewall pressure has been 50 psi which is load range C
The camper calls for load range D which is 65 psi tires.
LR C barely covers the camper dry weight.
The selling dealer had the wrong rated tires on it and I’ve been changing with what was there.
I will get a set of LR D’s and see how it goes.

Look at Carlisle tires and a few others with a 81 mph speed rating. You might not plan to go that fast but in an emergency or just running late it gives some extra protection. Some interstates are downright dangerous under 70+mph.

Also, consider a TPMS. There are some very inexpensive ones that seem to work and are better than nothing. I have one like that and it works.

My popup weighs 1620 pounds and I have been having the same problem with tire blowouts and thru dilligent searching have concluded that the st175/80r-13 Load rate D and speed rate M(81 mph) is what I need.
I am looking to buy a set in the near future...can anyone pitch in with opinions and or experiences with this issue?

As my prior post said the speed rating is extremely important and a major cause of tread coming off and/or blowouts.
If you are getting new tires consider getting them pre-mounted on new rims. I increased my tire size, pressure and got new rims to make sure they were correctly sized. Some rims are to low rated for higher pressures.
Note, a higher pressure will give a harsher ride which may cause problems. If your new tires are higher rated you should check your manufacturers pressure to load chart and adjust pressure to fit. In my case I tried running mine at 65 and rattled stuff out of the closet. Then I ran the Goodyear recommended pressure for my load (55 psi) and have had no problems.

To summarize, you don't have to run tire max, just the pressure suited for the load on the tires.

I suspect there are a lot of units of all sizes with ill suited tires. When I bought my first PUP it was riding on ten year old tires that had lots of tread, but had deep cracks in the sidewalls. I assumed they were the original until I noticed the spare was different. Sure enough, underrated tires had been put on the popup at some point.
