Propane Refrigerator

Hello everyone.
I just purchased a 2017 Jayco 10sd. And I was curious if you can tow the trailer while the propane refrigerator is running.

Yes you can, I pre chill on DC power then switch over to propane when towing. Just remember to turn it off when fueling.

well you started a touchy subject. I don't for safety reason but many do.

As mentioned above, some do, some dont and it has been discussed several times. I do and also start with propane a day before departure since it seems to give me a greater and quicker chill that plugging it in. Throwing in a frozen milk jug filled with water helps aid in the cooling process the day before departure too.

I do it all the time with no problems. You will, however, have to shut off your propane at certain places like ferries and tunnels. Make sure your 12V is not on when you're camping without shore power--it'll make short work of your battery.

I plug my frigde into 120 volts a few days before a trip and then have been using the 12v power while traveling to the campground. then switch back to 120v. would propane be a better choice to power the fridge? I notice a lot of moisture in my fridge while at the campsite. especially if opening and closing a-lot... is this normal for a camping fridge?

What you are doing is just fine and what most of us do: Use the 120v when it is available and propane when it is not.

Camping fridges don't have a defrost cycle like residential units do. In humid situations with the door being opened and closed it's normal to see moisture on the cold interior.
