Protective coating on roof?

I power washed the roof of my Jayco popup last fall and now after winter storage I see that that must have stripped off some sort of protective plasticized coating, as the roof now looks sort of chalky and oxidized. Seems to really hold the dirt. I've thought about just using car wax to try to bring it back, but is there something better/more durable?

I was told to hand-wash my roof with Dawn liquid detergent. I don't think power-washing it is recommended. Hopefully someone on here can advise you further...

I used to perform auto detail work at a paint shop and we would use dawn liquid dish soap to wash the vehicles prior to removing swirls and scratches. Dawn removes wax and surface contaminants, prepares the paint for clay bar, and ultimately the car gets washed again before polishing/ waxing again. If you use dawn, follow it up with a good wax or sealant. I think of dawn as a non abrasive stripper for removing that layer of protection.
