Replacement Mattress?

Last question for the night.

94 Jayco 1207, new to me, first camper.

The queen size mattress looks fine, but the King size mattress is not upholstered. It's just a block of foam, that's discolored, and has small holes in it from Mice (I've already let the mice know they are not welcome)

I've seen many postings here about people buying mattress toppers, and using that to replace the foam in they're mattress. Do you still put it in the original upholstery (which I don't have), or just use the mattress pad as is..

What are some of the options people have come up with?

The 3" thick memory foam mattress topper I bought at Target came with a zippered cover. The cover has a "skirt" that fits over the mattress, just like a regular mattress pad. You could cut that skirt off, and still use the cover to help protect the foam from dirt. You can also buy a "mattress protector". They are often made of plastic to protect the mattress from accidents. It would also protect it from general soiling and moister in the trailer.

Getting rid of the mice (and keeping them out) is a whole other problem. Good luck with that!
