Roof is stuck

Good afternoon. I'm in the middle of winterizing my Jayco 1207 popup. I had raised the roof and just installed the door when there was a loud pop and the roof dropped a couple inches. The motor still runs both up and down, but the roof is not moving. The nesting rails on the left side of the camper are able to slide up and down a couple of inches by hand and make a gear ratcheting sound when I move them. Everything is level, and I closed the beds to eliminate any excess torque from the extended weight. Did a cable pop loose? How do I realign it or lower the roof manually?

Thanks,

I have no direct experience with that trailer but I'll assume it still uses the L&W lift system.

I can think of several possible items that failed.
1. individual cable(s) broke
2. threaded eye bolt broke on the lift block
3. pulley pin broke out of lift track
4. corner pulley pulled out of floor. (due to rotting wood)

The lift system is hidden behind cabinetry and end floor steps. You'll need to remove or disassemble some them to figure out what let go. If the roof dropped a couple inches sometimes the lift spring will kink and need replacing also. Unfortunately I don't know of way of lowering the trailer until the lift is repaired.

Make sure you block up the roof corners (I made poles out of 2x4's) before making repairs.
