Roof Puncture Repair

I unfortunately dropped my kids bike on my roof of a 1207 from 2012 and the handle bar punctured it. Of course this had to be right after I pained the and sealed the top) I put a temporary gorilla/awning tape on it which has lasted a season and am looking to make a permanent repair. Please advise! I looked through the old posts and each case was different, thank you in advance.
If use eternabond, how much area should I cover past the crack? Would 2" tape work here or need wider?

I’d rather be safe than sorry. If it were mine I’d use some 4” Eternabond. I’ve only ever used 4” and have cut in narrower when needed and had it’s full width available when needed. That hole looks like 2” would barely cover it, too close for my comfort on a roof.

Do you use any sealant around the tape?

Nope, just clean the area really well so the tape has a fresh surface to adhere to. Don’t use soap, I used rubbing alcohol when I cleaned my repairs. They sell special spray to clean a repair area but it does the same thing. Also pressure activates the sticky side and they sell a special roller for it. I’ve finally bought a roller off Amazon for when I sealed all the seams as preventative maintenance. If you don’t want to buy a roller for such a small repair just use a big socket or anything round you can push down on and roll around.
So, clean area
Let it dry
Stick down tape
Push and roll the heck out of it
You’ll see the adhesive squish out the sides a bit
Celebrate because your now waterproof

X2 on eternabond. As for sealant around the tape, I did not, but it shows a black edge. No big deal for me.

A while back we had a fiver where a tree fell on the roof and put a dozen puncture holes in it small ones but still enough that needed repairs. I went to the local dealer and bought a 2 foot piece of eternal bond tape, cut it in squares and went over each of the holes and rolled it down really good cleaned at first but make sure it was sealed tightly. they recommended I put Dichlor on the leading edge so that the wind wouldn’t pull it up when you’re drivin. never had a problem with it since. I would probably use a 6” x 6” patch

I had an awning collapse under heavy snow and had a similar size puncture on my 1207. After much research and talking to the RV dealer, I decided on a permanent patch using RV aluminum, waterproof blind rivets from McMaster-Carr (the most amazing tool source on the planet) and sealant. That patch has held beautifully. I am up in the woods so can’t figure out how to upload pictures so you can IM me if you want. Good luck!

About 15 years ago I had a Coleman popup with an aluminum roof. We had severe damage in several places the metal was cracked and had quarter golf ball size dents.

Not knowing what to do I cleaned and filled each hole with GE silicone clear sealant on a nice day. 6 years later when I sold it the buyer didn't care and the sealant was still there but discolored.

Fill the hole level with Dicor, let set up well, cover with Etearnabond, Dicor the edges and you will never have a problem. But you probably won't have a problem even if you clean the metal and seal it with Dicor or any good sealant.
