Roof resealing

So I read a lot of post regarding roof resealing, but I still have a couple questions. I have a 2010 Jayco 1207 pop up and this is my first camper. I ordered the Dicor self leveling caulk for the roof and Eternabond tape.

1. When using the self leveling caulk on the roof, do you use it on the just the flat portion, stop and switch to a different caulk when the roof curves down (photo) or just use the dicor all the way? I was reading where the dicor cannot be used on vertical surfaces because it will run, but everything else I read said to use dicor self leveling on the roof. Same question for seam that runs horizontally across the roof.

2. Would you put the Eternabond tape over the Dicor caulk for double protection?

Thank you for any advice.

You can save yourself alot of time by just using Eternabond tape. You can use the tape over Dicor if you want. I have used Eternabond tape for a roof repair and used some Dicor on the edges of the tape but many say that is not necessary.

Dicor make two types of sealant, self level and no sag for vertical joints.

Tape works great but is expensive and is designed for root tops where it can't be seen. You have only the sides to worry about. Calking will look best You need two different types.

The Dicor sealants are excellent, but they are designed as lap sealants for roofing. For windows and such you probably want a clear, general purpose sealant. Geocel Proflex RV is a good all-around choice and is available in clear as well as several colors.

Thank you. I will look at getting a tube of the no sag ceiling sealer too. Thanks for the help.

If it was mine I’d Eternabond those seams and be done with it. It looks as nice if not nicer than a bead of Dicor down the seam and is maintenance free once done. Maybe slightly more expensive to tape now but over time it’s not. Resealing every year or two and your time to do it, the worry if you caulked it’s good or if it’s leaking because a seam opened back up is worth the upfront cost in my opinion.
