Solar Controller?

The battery connection was pulled accidently while system was activated and charging. I disconnected panels, reconnected battery cable but controller will now not turn on. When solar connection to battery is plugged in the 30amp fuse "clicks" about every 2 seconds but doesn't trip. Battery tests at 12.2. Ideas?

Renogy has an very good customer service tech service. I’ve had to call a few times when I wanted to double check some things. It’s worth a call to see what they might know.

Is this a solar suitcase, or a permanent kit you’ve installed? Where is this 30 amp clicking fuse your referring to?

Free standing panel with controller. The 30 amp fuse, I apologize is the 30 amp circuit breaker on the front of the trailer. I replaced the fuse with the circuit breaker instead.

I would try to hook the panel and controller up to a vehicle or any other 12v battery and see if the controller fires up. It will be blank if it senses no battery voltage. Possibly there is a problem with the fuse itself. How is the panel connected to the batteries, alligator clips, a plug? Eliminate or confirm the controller is the problem then go from there. I have one of the solar suitcases from Renogy with the same controller and it hooks right up to a battery using alligator clips and I notice my controller display is blank until it is hooked to a battery.

Thanks for the ideas. The battery currently measures 12.2 v. The breaker is the TT main breaker and everything else works fine. Panel connects to battery through Jayco factory solar plugs.

Unplug the camper if it’s plugged in. Turn off all of the breakers in your camper. Unplug the solar panel from the camper “solar plug”. Now there is almost certainly a small fuse somewhere before the “solar plug” wire meets the batteries (on the red wire). So start where the panel plugs in and work your way toward the battery following the red wire and I’ll bet you find a small 30amp fuse. It might be hard to see because they usually are in a small rubber holder about the size of the fuse. If that fuse is blown that will explain why your charge controller isn’t turning on. That blown fuse won’t let the power go from the solar controller to the battery. Like I said before the controller will have a blank display until it is hooked to a battery. As far as your main TT breaker inside your breaker panel clicking? That’s weird and I’m not sure why it would do that but it should have nothing to do with the solar setup because the solar is only charging the battery, nothing else, and if the display is blank it’s not on anyways.
