Think I Broke My Lift System....Is There Hope?

I was in a rush to setup our 2007 Jay Series 1007 today and in my haste, I forgot to unlatch one of the rear roof latches. As I cranked up the roof, I heard a pop and then nothing. I realized my error too late. After unlatching it, the rear wouldn't budge.

With help of fellow campers, we muscled up the roof and have it braced with several 2x4s.

Is this fixable? By a dealer, I assume? I'm kicking myself.

Thinking about calling our local dealer and dropping it off after our trip on the way home but thought I'd check here for any in-the-field suggestions that might avoid a big expense.

Probably just a broken cable and its a decent DIY repair if you are a bit handy. Get the cable from a dealer by model / make. If you have a dealer fix it it will probably be in the $300 range but given the age of the unit they will probably suggest replacing all the cables and check the pulleys. Probably not a bad idea if you plan on keeping the pup for a few more years.

Broken cable, hopefully not damage to a pulley or mounting surface. Cables are pretty easy to fix if you are some what handy.

Years ago I bought a used Jayco pop-up. The day I brought it home I did the same thing and broke a cable. I took it to the local dealer and had it fixed. I don't remember what it cost me but I was ticked off that we couldn't use it right away because I forgot to undo one stinking latch. First time camper owner and I learned my lesson.
