Upgrading mattresses/mattress size help!

Hi!

We just purchased a 2009 Jay Series 1007 trailer. We used it last weekend and we loooooved it! Except... we did NOT love the mattress. I just felt like I was on a thin layer over wood (which I suppose we are!) Is this something common to upgrade/add a topper?

Does anyone have any recommendations for mattress replacement/improvement?

Does anyone know what size (exact dimensions) the "king" is on the 1007?

You are somewhat limited by the closed up space. We used about a 1.5" mattress topper on ours for much improved comfort. Bought a King and it was bit larger, but the extra just wrapped and tucked under the front.

I also just recently read of a hack for adding the rubber comfort floor tile panels beneath the mattress up against the wood for both comfort and improved insulation. Easily cut to fit, and really cheap at Home Despot/Lowes. Thinking of trying this on our current HTT which has similar bed setup to your pup.

Oh, do you mean those squishy mats for in front of the kitchen sink etc?

Hopefully we don't run out of space... I think my wife got memory foam and a topper on top of that!

We moved on from popups a few years ago but we replaced our mattress by installing new foam rubber in ours. The foam from Jayco didn't get better with age.

Warning, there is limited space in most (all?) popups so make sure whatever you get will allow space to close when folded. We tried leaving them made up and just would not close down.

This reminds me about lots of years ago... But technology has improved a bunch since then... If I was doing this again, I would go and get one of the premium camping air mattresses that is the same size and put it under your mattress. Then you can deflate it when you fold the unit up and it wont take up the extra room when folding the canvas in for travel.
