Wax or not wax pop up roof

Hello all,

I'm a newbe here and trying to find my way around. I bought a 2010 Jay Series 1207 new from the dealer. The dealer told me not to wax the roof because if the roof ever needed repair the materials would not stick because of the wax. The same was true if I needed to use Dicor caulk.
They told me to just wash the roof often. I did and I do.

Its stored uncovered outside and the roof still looks good. It seems, however, to be loosing some of its shine. I'm a wax freak and would love to wax it for protection.

I would appreciate your thoughts pro or con re: the wax on the roof.

We've owned three pop ups, and never really waxed the roof, but have scrubbed clean and used 303 protectant on it to help with the affects from the sun. I would imagine, if repairs were needed, you could clean off the area with something, so sealant would stick. automotive paint companies make "wax and grease" remover for cars, I would think that would work. Not an expert, just my opinion. Maybe someone else has an idea to share.

Wax it. It won't hurt a thing. And yes, a wax and grease remover can be used if any work needs to be done.

I use a spray wax. No issues.

I learned about Collinite #845 on an F150 site, I use it on my vehicles and my camper, the product is excellent.

Thanks for all the good info.

I like the 303 product for its sun protection but I guess car was also provides UV protection. On the 303 website there seemed to be a difference of opinion if this product washed off in the rain.

The car wax sounds good also but some people warned of the difficulty to wipe off. I'm not against hard work but to do it right I may have to go on the roof. I'd rather not do that for fear of weakening the roof.

I may run a bead of dicor cauld along the roof rails both sides before waxing. It doesn't look like it needs it but if I do it now - before wax - I guess I should be good for several years.
