WDH Solution Needed for 2018 Jayco Jay Series 10SD

WDH Solution Needed for 2018 Jayco Jay Series 10SD

This unit has a very short tongue with the tank and battery area falling where the standard WDH units mount to the frame.

Has anyone found an alternate solution for this type of issue?

It is a light unit... but still makes my Rav4 v6 with new shocks sit down 1" on back and really could use a light duty WDH unit.

Thanks

Not sure how much room you have but this is what etrailer.com recommends for lighter weight trailers with tongue weight under 500#. You may have to call them to get length of bars to make sure they fit. https://www.etrailer.com/p-PS49901.h...a&hhmodel=RAV4

I am kind of in the same boat with the 2017 12SC. The hitch receiver on our Sienna is very low to the ground. I just added some air bags to the rear springs and pump them up when towing. the trailer tows just fine and have never had any problems with sway.

The model @Sundancer330 doesn't look any shorter than the other standard WDH options. I say this based on the pictures with the sway control. It appears to be the same length as my Reese, and the hangers fall the same distance away as on my TT. However, the chain hangers on this one are side mounted on the frame, which means that the position of your propane and battery probably matter a lot less. In general I like the chain hangers to hook up over the frame rail, but for a light trailer having them bolted to the side rail is probably fine.

Looks like this might be a winner, thanks! The solution at that link uses Reese Chain Hangers mounted to the side of the frame for just this issue.

I'm in the same boat. 2016 10SD though.
What did you end up getting?

I was looking at the Fastway 2D WDH

Sorry, that model will not work.

You will need the solution in the first post, the type with a Chain Hanging version combined with the additional Reese Chain Hanger adapters. E-Trailers is out of stock on them (They cannot get more from the factory right now) so you will need to get them from Amazon.

2) https://www.amazon.com/Reese-58305-W...+chain+hangers

olycamper777, got a notification you replied but not seeing it here unless I'm blind and don't know how to use this forum.

You mentioned the Fastway I posted about won't work. Can you tell me why you don't think it would work?

Thanks

There is no room on frame to attach as shown on the link of your product.

Now that's interesting. eTrailer has actually changed the model that @Sundancer330 linked above. When this was first posted, the link led to a WDH with bolt on chain hangers. Now it shows one with saddle type chain hangers.

Even more interesting is that the pictures on the listing of the actual installed unit STILL show the chain hangers bolted to the side of the frame rails. If you can still find the one that was originally in that link it should work for a tight tongue area. The one that now shows up at that link is almost identical to the Reese I currently use. Great simple WDH, but you need room on the rail tops for the hangers.

Those Reese bolt ons look pretty hinky as they don't have any cam action. You would have to jack the tongue and TV pretty high to get any reasonable amount of tension on them I would think.

WDH for a 10SD? Use a air bag helper kit and just use a Curt sway control.

Have you looked at Andersen. They are great for my use.

I can measure the distance from the ball to the support brackets if they look good to you.

I'm in a similar situation with our 12SC. I tow with a Honda Oddessy and was thinking of adding airbags. We did install a transmission cooler, it works well.

Measured my Andersen Hitch. Each side is 31 inches from center of ball to hitch bracket.

I an mot 100% but I think you could cut the chain shorter if you have to.
