What are these wires?

The trailer is a 2008 Jayco Baja 10Y.

This pair of black+white wires run from the battery box to the back of the trailer where they enter the trailer with the rest of the (red) 12v power wires. Any idea what their intended use is? I have yet to get inside the trailer to see where they go as the weather and work have not cooperated.

It appears that the ends have been cut clean.., no terminals (?). It sounds/looks like something the previous owner may have added. I guess you'll will find out once you trace the wires.

If in doubt, contact Jayco with your VIN and they will send you a wiring schematic of your Baja.

It looks like pre-wiring for an option. The 12 volt accessory wiring in my Jayco fiver is made from the same two wire black and white twin conductor that is in your picture. It could be anything from a feed to charge your battery from the tow vehicle if your trailer has electric brakes to a feed to an optional 12 volt fuse panel. Jayco will send you the wiring schematics if your trailer is out of warranty, if not, they will refer you to your Jayco dealer.

Since black and white are the factory colors for neg and pos this must have been after market install.. only way to find out what they are is to trace them.

do what Bob said.... I found two wires near the house battery...sent Jayco a picture with my Grey Hawk number an they responded in two days with explanation and wiring diagram.... other end terminates in a ceiling light over the forward bunks....prewire for solar/satellite installation....

Thanks for the input guys! Another member that has a 2008 Jayco Baja PM'd me that his has those wires as well, cut + taped at the battery box, and is not sure what they're for. I'll contact Jayco to get a wiring schematic and see what they are intended for. Stay tuned.

Also, once the rain stops here in Northern California, I'll pop the trailer up and do some wire tracing.

Cheers!

Alright, the word from Jayco is that those wires are there for "solar prep". They couldn't give me much more than that, but at least I now have some idea of their intended use.
