Wisconsin registration?

Hello everyone.
I just bought my first pop up. a 1992 Jayco cardinal. I am completely new to this. When I purchased this the owner told me they did not have a title for this. Is one required in Wisconsin?

A title and registration is not required for collapsible camping trailers at or less than 3,000 pounds gross weight unless they are used for hire or rental. Title and registration is encouraged for vehicles that will be used on roads outside the state of Wisconsin, as other states' registration laws may be different.

Thank you very much. I will eventually plan on traveling outside of Wisconsin within 2 years. Is it hard to apply for a title if I never had one?

You may need it if you plan on crossing the border. A couple weeks ago we were crossing into the US and were asked for proof of ownership (which we have for our '93 Eagle). On the way back to Canada we were asked if we have the ownership, but didn't have to show it to the agent.
Just an fyi

I think you just need to take the bill of sale and the vin to the DMV and they can get you a new title...

Last pop up I owned did not require registration or tag unless it was towed out of state.

If you don't have a title, how do you get a license plate for it? I would be concerned it may have been stolen, or the title lost.

I believe in Washington state, if you are not the legal owner, the state will issue a registration certificate but not a title for 2 or 3 years to ascertain it is not stolen.

Washington also requires plates for most anything towable.
