Our coach batteries seem to be not holding a charge. The cells are all covered with distilled water and all cells test "good" with a hydrometer. A battery monitor indicates the three stage converter is charging them properly. I want to remove them to have them tested under load at a battery store, but I need the refrigerator to keep running on AC from our shore power.
To see if this would work, I turned off the battery disconnect switch in the stairwell. The result was that all 120 volt appliances and outlets were still hot EXCEPT for the air conditioners and the refrigerator. How come?
As an aside, if I do decide to replace the batteries I may replace them with two 6v golf cart batteries connected in series.
Any comments appreciated. Thanks.
