We still have issues getting cold water "spikes" while taking
'army' showers... even after the following suggestion from Scott
at Girard - Do you have the same problem, how do you resolve it?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DONT mix hot and cold water (i.e. use the hot/cold valves to increase and decrease hot water) with this water heater. If you need hot water, ONLY use the hot water valve/faucet. If the water is too hot (or not quite hot enough) adjust the temperature with the dial for the hot water heater. What happens is that when you mix in cold water, it reduces demand for hot water, which lessens the flow through the water heater, but not the flame. When this happens, the water going through the water heater gets much hotter, to the point where it “limits out”, or overheats the water heater, and it shuts down until it senses that it is cool enough to operate again. This is where you see the surge of the cold water.
