Volts, Amps in use & % of full (amp hours) are the three basic metrics you receive. I prefer the amp hours % of full. You can have the full voltage of your charging capacity, i.e. the meter will read 13.5 volts, maximum voltage for most single stage converters we all have from the factory, yet only have a 70% full bank. Our standard control panel from the factory that shows us our water tank and holding tank levels will show a full battery when it is at 13.5 volts, even if your total amp hours on your battery bank are not 100%. This to me is the single most important factor in knowing how long to keep charging until not only do I have the full voltage, but the full amp hours restored to my batteries.
