Coax to HDMI

Bought new tv and receiver for my new to me 29BHS. New receiver has no provision for the coax cable from the wall (factory antenna). The Onkyo tech said a coax to HDMI adapter is needed. Anyone use such a thing?

Not sure, but would a blue ray player accomplish this? Coax into the player, hdmi out.

New tv and receiver? and receiver does not accept coax? (typical these days). How about the tv itself? what inputs does it have? I just purchased my new TV for my 21FB Jay Flight. It has HDMI, YPrPb and coax input (has an internal digital tuner). If you want to translate the digital OTA broadcasts to RGB output to go into your receiver, you'll need something like a Zinwell converter box. That's what I did for my old TV (analog) before I went digital. To get from Coax-to-RGB-to HDMI, you'll need another HMDI converter. Amazon has all that kind of stuff cheap. I'm sure you'll get more input and advice. Best of luck. And the new bluray players I am familiar with wont accept coax, either.

Why can't you go coax into the TV and then use the audio out on the TV into the receiver?

X2. Just got a DVD player for our home and is the same (no coax pass thru)

I'm confused, every receiver [Sat] I've ever had has an Ant. in [coax] connection and a Sat in [coax] to receive the incoming sat connection from the outside dish. Correct hookup is to run the jumper from the ant/booster connection to the ant in on the receiver along with the sat feed. Then use the tv out connection and run it to the tv [coax, component cable, or HDMI].
