Towing the Eagle Premier 361REQS

Hi all- we just put our deposit down on an Eagle Premier 361REQS. We decided to find the camper before buying the truck so we could get exactly what we wanted. Now we are truck searching.
This camper is on the large side at 39ft and 15000lbs.
I have done tons of research about trucks. But I am still curious about what ya'll are using to tow this larger camper?

My recommendation is 350/3500. I went with SRW as the truck is also my daily driver and I didn’t want to have to deal with the parking a DRW at the office. I would have liked the lower gear ratio that a DRW offers though

You need a 350/3500 minimum. I won’t say you “need” or “must” have a dually but it would be most folks suggestion.

Totally agree with full ton. Would also suggest diesel and 8 foot box.

I tow a 351 RSQS NORTH POINT with a 2016 Silverado 3500 DRW 6.6 Duramax

I tow a 40ft. 16,500 lb. Jayco 355W toyhauler with a 2016 GMC crewcab SRW diesel standard box (6.5 ft.) , and it works very well. A very important item to get in a truck, which most new diesel’s have is the diesel exhaust brake. I would never tow if I didn’t have it. It is a breeze going down grades, without having to apply much braking at all.

KassidyAnn,

We have the same trailer. I needed to upgrade from a 2500 to a GMC 3500 diesel SRW. Even with the 3500, I'm close on all our weights. Probably would have been better off with extra payload if I would have gone with 3500 DRW, but wanted the SRW because the truck is also my daily drive.

Definitely look at 1 ton trucks, you'll be happy you did.

Good luck and hope this is of some help.

Thank you

That was the direction we were looking to take.
Thank you all for your input.
Much appreciated!

Towing 361REQS

We have the same camper. Started with a F250 diesel with upgraded 1 ton springs. Just upgraded to a Ram 3500 DRW. 6.7 liter diesel.8foot box. Love how it handles the 5th wheel. Installed a Curt 24K hitch in the factory pucks.
