camp lighter
So, what is everyone using for a lighter to light camp fires? I am looking for a better option then the junky disposable stick lighters. Something that I can refill. Any suggestion?

No suggestions here. I use 2 for a dollar at the dollar store.

I have been using the wind resistant lighters, but they don't work very well. I have not found a "long" lighter that works well. They start out ok, then ...

me to, 2 for 1 at the dollar store, first a shot of charcoal lighter fluid, no need for kindling. happy camping!

I use a Benz-O-matic torch for all my fire lighting. Charcoal chimney works best for grills.

After a night of camping, I use a 4-D air mattress pump to stoke the campfire coals back to life. Amazing what forced O2 can do to embers. :)

If you fry anything or have any leftover cooking oil, save it in a container. When it comes time to start a fire soak a few paper towels in the old oil and place the soaked towels under your wood. The oil will cause the paper towels to burn slowly. I use this method to start my charcoal grill. I don't use lighter fluid anymore for the BBQ.

I prefer diesel.

Slower and safer burn.

Your local candle store like Yankee Candle should have some of the really good igniters by Zippo. These are metal, not plastic and are refillable.

I am "old fashioned" I guess. I still use newspaper, kindling, and a match. Ok, maybe 3 or 4 matches.

I get a box of fire starter logs. Cut a small piece off, wrap it in paper, and put some kindling on top of it. That always takes right off.
