Broke strap to open awning

2008 Jayco Melbourne 29D . Tried to open the awning and the strap to pulll the awning down snapped off. Is there a way to open the awning without that strap?

That's what I was afraid of. I took the toilet off and tore it down and there is no way I can see to remove this portion. I am going to try epoxy as I need it for the upcoming weekend. Hope it holds !
