Bang! Woke up to the sound of my bedroom awning losing spring tension suddenly

2001 Jayco Designer XL model 3230.

Thought a branch had fallen on the awning. Found no branches, but the fabric was loose, like the spring had lost its tension suddenly.

Ay ideas on how to fix...

Oh, ok... I didn't know about the frost limiting thing. It's a thick layer of frost, at least a half inch or more. And this is humid Florida.

I'm getting my Uncle's 2000 Jayco Designer 3230, which weighs around 8800 dry. I'm thinking it will be up around 10,000 pounds as I will be traveling down the road.

I plan to tow it with a 2007...
