I cut a length of PVC pipe in half (2" I think)... I put the PVC half on top of the hangers and secure it with a few strips of velcro...
Haven't lost any clothes since I've done that.

If you can find something that's above the RV, storage unit beam for example, and measure it's height and then measure the gap it will give you an accurate trailer height...eyeballing from the side...
