If you know for sure you will be going 5th wheel in the future, go ahead and get a 1 ton diesel. You will be amazed at the pulling difference.

IMHO.....I went ahead and upgraded to 16" wheels and Maxxis E rated tires for the extra height, but more for the peace of mind knowing I had a good quality tire with a higher load rating than the 15"...

IMHO......you probably don't need a slider hitch. I have a standard hitch in my 2500 Ram CTD 4x4 and have not come close to needing a slider. You are going to run nose high with that combination....
