Best thing to do is add another disconnect switch in the battery compartment directly off the + cable.
That way you are sure to kill all power.

I removed the shelf and mounted a small aluminum angle on each of the side walls for shelf to sit on. I put one screw to hold the shelf and make it easy to remove. Will post a picture shortly.

Yes they will make a big difference. I installed shocks last year and it was a good investment. Takes the majority of bounce away. No more coming out of my seat when we go over a uneven viaducts.
