I post to the precept owners group on this...

I post to the precept owners group on this website exclusively- so I only have experience posting within this group. If i type a post that is 1001 characters it will come back with an error message...

Why limit messages to 1,000 characters?

Limiting text to 1,000 characters is just stupid in my personal opinion. Disk space is cheap. Makes it discouraging to write useful instructions.
