I found that it does not deflect the belt enough to affect the belt size. The pulley just leans on the belt, keeping it stable.

Just got home from a trip from PA to Texas Motor Speedway and back... 3,002.9 miles. No problems at all from adding the pulley, and NO annoying noises!!
