The batteries are connected with a single hot and ground. Somewhere behind the paneling wires are connected. Removing the ground wire from the negative side...

You are right; it doesn't make sense. But, Jayco certainly did it on my Eagle HT. With the switch off, the light on my converter still flashes. . . .
