Returned from a 200 mile trip and can confirm that the addition of the idler pulley has fixed the issue for me. Absolutely no noise in that RPM range. I'm truly a happy camper now. :D

I just installed my idler pulley (1L2Z-8678-AD)...

I just installed my idler pulley (1L2Z-8678-AD) and went for a short test drive. No more rattle/pinging sound :D:D . I only went on a 10 mile test loop, but was able to keep it in the 2000-2300 rpm...
