Sewer Hoses -Mod Pics Included- need advice

I just took delivery of our new TT. I sold my motorhome and the nice guy I am I left my new Rhino Sewer hose for the buyer. I like the Rhino for many reasons, but it did not fit, nor will it fit in the standard square tube bumper. The ends don't and they (Rhino) neglect to advise, they suggest to store the ends inside in something sealed. No way...

Anyways I custom fabbed a 6 in commercial pvc pipe on my rear and removed the square thin bumper to fit my Rhino sewer hose and fittings wand etc...It was nice.

Now I forgot that I included the hose and I am going away this weekend. I wanted any input on sewer hoses you may have that you recommend above the standard hose that will fit in my rear standard bumper.. Looking for something nice,,,

Thanks Fella's

I had a sewer hose on my previous TT called "Blueline". It seemed like a good quaility hose, was more pricey then the "cheap" ones, and it fits in the bumper. I feel that it was a decent system. When I sold my TT I let the hoses go with it so the unit was ready to camp. I bought the the Rhinoflex when I got the Jayco based on good reviews, a nice system but as said will not fit in the bumper.

Has anyone used Polychute sewer hoses? I have just purchased a x17z and I am thinking about getting up one of these.

I used my dremmel and cut off 2 of the "ears" on the Rhino and it fits the bumper perfectly.

I have used quite a few cheeper sewer hoses and you get what you pay for. on last TT I got the Blueline kit and really like it but hose fits in bumper but fittings have to go in a bag , box or something they wont fit in bumper so I got a small rubbermaid tub and keep all sewer stuff in there works fine for me.

We also use a small sealed box to hold sewer fitings.

On my previous TT the rear bumper was really rusted and I did not want to run the risk of damaging the sewer hose. When we got the new TT I bought a vinly fencepost and made a sewer hose carrier that I strap on top of my rear bumper. I bought a large enough post so i do not need to remove any fittings.

Here's my Rhino storage. I use the vinyl gutter for a ramp to hold the hose while connected, too.

The setup looks really good. However, on my TT, the U-bolts for the spare tire holder run across the top of the trailer's bumper, which wouldn't allow the the post holder to lay completely flat against the bumper. Because that area is hidden by your spare tire, I can't tell whether your spare tire holder mounted like mine or mounted in some other way that didn't use U-bolts.

You took a lot of good pictures, but I am unable to tell from any of them how your spare tire holder is mounted.

My Rhinoflex fits in the standard bumper. It is tight, but it just required turning the connectors just right. If I had to I would not be scared of storing it in a compartment. With the caps on, it is just fine.

I keep mine in a rubbermaid container in the front storage hatch. If you squish it down pretty good and then put the caps on, it stays compressed because it has an air tight seal.

Thanks for the ideas...

I went with the new Rhino system. its better than the rhino I had on the old Motorhome... I may do the same thing I did on my Motorhome and remove the bumper and put in my own commercial 6 in pvc pipe with cap ends... leave for first trip in the RV today...

My spare tire holder is the same as yours. I think I used some of the leftover pieces of aluminum (used for the top and bottom brackets shown) underneath the fence post at various places to level it the same as the diameter of the spare-tire U bolts. Anyway, something similar in diameter of the U bolts would work to lift it up a bit off the bumper and over the U bolts. I may have even glued them in place.

UPDATE: Actually, if you look closely at my last photo, you can see what I used. It was foam moulding from Lowe's, not leftover aluminum strips. I think I used construction adhesive to hold the pieces in place. I ran two lengths down the bumper, breaking for the spare tire U bolts.

Thanks, Mike

I took another look at your last picture and can see what appears to be the two foam strips you described. Without you disclosing this, it was difficult to see exactly that was what was in there since it's somewhat hidden by the end cap plus being so dark in the area.

Would it be safe to assume that the mounting bolts are made from lengths of what looks to be about 3/16" all-thread?

I really like this idea. I was going to mount mine under the tt, but this makes more sense. I do have a couple of questions. I see you used a wire tie for a kind of hinge at the bottom of the cap/lid. What kind of latching mecahnism did you use for the top? I see some sort of pin laying there in one of the pics, but cant make it out. Also, did you drill any drain holes on the fence post to allow venilation?

Same here. Shaved the "ears" off and has been trouble free for 2 years in the tube.
