OMG... I am "That Guy"
This week my wife and I are on our 1st major camping trip with our 27BH. A couple hours from our destination I comment to my wife that the traffic is fairly heavy (long weekend here in Canada) then it dawns on me - There is a lot more traffic behind me than in front of me. I keep right in all the passing lanes, maintain speed limts etc and then it dawns on me. I am "That Guy" way upfront with an RV holding everyone back. I am 50, I AM TOO YOUNG to be THAT GUY!!!! My wife howled at me....

It's funny that as we age, we become the people we once complained about. I noticed that as I aged (I'm 55), I drive slower and allow much more stopping distance than when I was younger. My brake lining last much longer lately. When I tow, I take my time. It's more difficult to stop or change lanes with the TT, and a wise man ( or woman) realizes that fact.

I got a little lost getting to the campground the other day. I was on all these narrow twisting back roads with tons of mailbox targets for my trailer if I got to close to the side of the road. At one point I looked in the mirror and I had 6 or 7 cars behind me. I thought for sure one guy would pass me, but everyone stayed in line until I finally got to a main road, and after that they all took off and left me in the dust.

Try being "that guy" at only 34 when you're usually the guy in the patrol car catching speeders! It's an interesting adjustment between to emergency responses to right lane slow-poke. lol

I know how you feel. On the other hand, there are ever so many "younger" guys pulling huge RV's with diesel pickups. These guys must feel it necessary to show how fast they can go. I see them often, traveling at speeds well above the posted limit. I had a big honker, jacked up diesel pickup pass me yesterday, pulling a boat about the size of the Queen Mary, going at least 140 kph.
I remarked to my wife the other day that I used to see some old guy with an older car that looked like new, and I would say, "The old guy probably took the car downtown to fill with gas, wash it, then put it back in the garage". Guess what? I have a beautiful red 1995 Mercury Gran Marquis, and that's what I'll often do with it!!:lizard:

You have to fight it. Every so often due something wild and crazy.
Look at race car legend Hershel McGriff. He ran a road race at age 84 on June 23, 2012 at Sonoma California!

All those people following behind you are jealous wishing they had a TT and thinking of all the fun family time they could be having if they had one. If they aren't thinking that, they should be!

Don't worry about it. I feel the same way about backing my rig into a camping slot. The folks on the campground road can just turn the engine off and listen to the radio for a while as I maneuver my trailer SAFELY into place. I'm the one who invested all the hard earned money into it and I'll be darned if I'm going to damage it trying to rush myself so somebody can drive around the loop sooner. They can wait.

You think that bad, try getting stuck behind a combine or another farm implement, they are usually so large that they are nearly impossible to pass

I know what you're talkin' about! Here in the rural areas, I've seen combines so wide you literally have to pull off the road to let them by!
To the OP..... I'm right there with ya! But I think safety first vs. speed! That and plus the fact I'm still new at this pulling a TT thing, so I will tend to be more cautious than usual.

Chuckle, Chuckle! Life on the farm! We live on a semi-large farm (beef cattle) and I've learned to be very patient. To me, this living is heaven to me! I live on a narrow country road that has NOT deer crossing signs, but cattle crossing signs!!! Love it!

Rule #1 Never complain about farmers with your mouth full.
Rule #2 Remember the "big boat" rule. The bigger boat makes the rules.
Rule #3 Crank up the song International Harvester by some country singer.
Rule #4 Be patient. Your on vacation...no need to hurry.

To clarify, I wasn't complaining about farmers, I'd love to be a farmer, I was making the statement to the OP that the people behind him could have it worse
