Rungs Cracked On Jayco Ladder

We have added a warranty issue to our list. DH found the cracks purely by accident but glad he did. Don weighs 250lbs and the weight limit for the ladder is 300#. He's gone up to the roof twice (I'm much smaller and have been up there twice) to clean and check the roof. We've never stowed anything on the ladder. Our dealer now has the pics of the cracks and will repair the ladder when we come in next. We really hope that Jayco will reinforce the rungs so the cracking doesn't return.

Jayco owners should check out the rungs where they are bolted to the uprights of the ladder on their unit. If you are still under warranty, get it into the dealer to have it fixed

That should be an easy fix.

no longer needed

Those of you are around 250lbs.... help!

We just had warranty work done on our Jayco. The 300lb ladder failed when DH first used it in Sept 2009. It was finally replaced yesterday with a new one. This morning he began to scale it and CRACK! The rung snapped. He tried the next one and same thing.... the rung snapped. The cracks were much worse than the initial problem in September (posted in a thread a few months ago). He weighs in at arround 250lbs.

How are folks with the Designers and heavier duty trailers doing with their ladders? We are hoping that there really is a heavy duty ladder that can actually handle 250lbs. We would like to hear about those successes so we can recommend a ladder that Jayco can successfully replace ours with.

Thanks,

Resurrected posts from 2009/2010 ladder issue... pulled from archives.

Issue resolved with second ladder install... used an upgraded ladder from a Designer model. It is now 2013, tt is four years old, no new problems with ladder or as a result of twice installed to roof and rear panel of tt

If under warranty, take pics of the ladder failure and make sure dealer sends to Jayco
