1207 roof leak

Well I still continue to have issues water getting into my 1207. This is actually, my second trailer. The first one leaked on the dealers lot and got a funky stain on the king bunk section. With a bit of persistance I had the dealer agree to swap for a.completely new unit. Which I must say was very good on their part and the right thing to do. So I got my new one last august and got out a couple times last year and stored it in my garage over the winter. This summer I have had rain getting in through the roof somewhere. At first I thought it was the seal around the fan. So I eternabond sealed the gasket around the fan. Thinking that the leak was fixed I have rain come in again on multiple occasions. Is it possible that a seam in the roof is leaking and then running down and dripping around the fan? Im going to talk to the dealer and see what they have to say. Im 100% that im packing it up correctly. anything I google is for much older units. What are the possibilities that they had a couple of bad ones in the,same batch. At any rate if anyone has any insight, please feel free to share.

If I'm interpreting your post correctly, the leak is always coming in at the fan. If the caulking (now Eternabond) is not compromised another consideration would be is that rain is getting in around the seal that the plastic vent lid rests on when closed.

But yes, there is the possibly that water is getting in elsewhere and exits at the fan. Sometimes finding the source of the leak is more time consuming than the fix.

I had new pup and stored it in 3 sided lean to in winter.It would sweat inside during freezing thawing weather.i put 2 small damp rid in mine and took care of problem.

Thankfully I store mine in my garage for the winter, If I didn't it would now be destroyed. I do realize That they will have condensation from heat variances, and putting in the moisture absorbing can is a good idea. However this is moisture from rain 100%, i just don't know how it's getting in. It has leaked when it is both up and closed.. Seems that the biggest factor is if it's level or not, which I'm not sure how that has such an impact on the rain getting in. However I can tell you that if it's sloping toward the front end (where the fan is) the water leaks via the fan opening..Just don't know how it's getting in.
does anyone know how the roof is constructed? is it layer's aluminum, wood aluminum?

I didn't stop the leaks on my 1406 until I caulked everything over. The obvious big cracks on the front of the lid wasn't the problem, it was somewhere else where I couldn't even tell apparently. Good luck, hope the dealer could soak it and find the issue, sounds like you got a good dealer.

The dealer has been pretty good. This second unit I havent really involved them. This wasa brand new unit. The caulking looks perfect everywhere. Just can't figure it out. At anyrate I'm going to talk to the dealer and see what they have to say.

Did you make sure your A/C bolts are snug (as talked about in the recall section on here) water can enter the roof and travel a long way before showing up...

always get down on your hands and knees and look very close when inspecting your caulking...

Rain

Went out today after a good rain. absorbed about 18oz off the front bunk end. Curtains and vallances completely saturated dripping wet. I suspect a total kf 25 oz of rain got in. everything appears as tight as a drum. Talk to dealer tomorow.
