174bh front stabilizer jacks

Anyone done mods to the front stabilizer jacks? The front jacks run front to back and kind of rock side to side. The back that run side to side are rock solid. Thinking of just turning them sideways

What year is your 174BH? We just picked up a 2020 174BH last weekend, and I was shocked to find that it does not have any stabilizer jacks on the front. Only two in the back. Would you be able to show me a photo of where yours are located? Did you buy the TT new?

Ahh...I just called Jayco Support and gave my VIN...my trailer was only equipped from the factory with (2) stabilizer jacks. Bummer! I've only had it a week and noticed it does bounce and rock quite a bit. Guess I'll need to order another pair along with those JT Strong Arms.

Mines a 2018 but it is the baja package. Maybe they are different?

Standard on the Baja models. Silly, they all need front stability

I had them put on fronts at the dealer. He screwed them existing frame and they are front to back. And not as firm as I would like.

Can't put them sideways as the frame does not run that way without welding something on to the frame to attach them to. I use maximum number of blocks to keep the leg as short as possible and that helps.
Mine are attached with two large screws by the dealer and have held up ok.

Are they the same as the rears (single arm) or the smaller scissor style?
Are they Lippert or BAL?

They do. Can't understand why they put them front to back though. Every trailer ever made has lateral stability. These are worthless on the baja unless you have 2 feet of blocks to put under them.

As you can see the frame member going out to the side of the trialer is beveled so it was easier to attach to the main frame. Not better, easier and of course and most important, CHEAPER.


Mounting them on the main frame puts them nearer the center of the trailer and thus a bit less stable.

Maybe weld on a support bracket to the beveled part would be the answer. Hey, while you are there, have put on a receiver on the back for bicycles or stuff.

Soon as I get home I'm going to pull the under belly off the front and see what I'm dealing with. 1st thing I did was build the rack for bikes and generator. Used 2" tune and leaf spring shackles to bolt to the main frame

Finally got home and was able to pull back the under belly and move the Jack's sideways. Pretty easy to do and only required welding 1 tab on the front of the frame and drilling and tapping a few 3/8" holes. Major improvement! I would not say rock solid but a lot better. I've ordered the Bal single wheel chock and hope that will cure the rest of an wiggle.
