I just bought this 2000 23b Kiwi with water damage for $800. Started tearing out the walls, ceiling and floor today. Water had come through the back roof seam and ceiling fan that the owner had left open.

The back popout sleeper was rotten and much of the water damage extended about 4 feet into the floor and ceiling. I should take the roof off but I don't have the energy to take it on. So, I will do the best I can from the inside.

Any insights and advice you have on this project would be appreciated.

I have the Jayco Feather EXP 23B which is the same as yours. You have the screw style bunk door closures mine is the new style with a latch like this. You will want to change the 4 latches at some point. The rubber pad on the swivel arm is a maintenance item and needs to be replaced on occasion to avoid the bunk door from leaking.

I should have said that mine is a 2010 that I bought in March 2024. I consider my to be a ongoing project. It had some leaks: rear bunk door, roof seams, outlet near the door and misc other small stuff. I am in the process of replacing the battery with Lifepo4 lithium batteries and adding solar. When done I will have 400 amp hours of house power plus a solar/battery 800 amp hour battery bank with an inverter producing 30 amps 120 volt of dry/boon docking camping fun. We are retired and trying to enjoy the life we have left.
