We have a 2009 Jayflight bungalow and our friends have a 2009 Jayflight. Both Jayco's have the same issue, a puffyness occurring on the exterior slide out walls. In some instances this comes with a bubbling of the slide. This causes the wall to become soft and easy to get punctured.

This winter our Bungalow was punctured and water ended up inside the wall causing damage all the way thru the inside leading to inside wall damage. We have to replace the outside wall, inside wall and the inside wood frame. We are wondering if any other Jayco owners are having similar problems.

It is called delamination. It is caused by water intrusion into the wall. Unfortunately it is not a warrantable item. The top of the slideout must be inspected several times a year for damage.

Absolutely but why is this happening and how do you prevent it? Is this a manufacture defect?

I don't think it is a mfg. defect. Especially on a unit 6 years old. It looks to me that there is water infiltration at the slide out roof seam. There should be a white tape on the slide out roof where the roof meets the outside wall. If that has any buckles or holes in it, they should be filled, or covered over, with Dicor. Either that or there may be a window leak just above the problem (if there is a window in that location) because the windows need to be periodically re-caulked. Unfortunately, these things need constant maintenance. One other thought may be that you have a huge amount of condensation on the inside of the camper during cooler weather. In that case you need to keep a window or roof vent open slightly so the moisture (or at least most of it) can escape.
