How do I get access below the seating on the Living Room Slide-out. Not the dinette area, but where the little sofa was, and now a pair of theatre seats are? The floor of that and the front facing, vertical panel are covered in carpet. We want to replace the seats, but are not sure how to get to the bottom of the bolts.

The floor that the seats sit on are the actual bottom of the slide and the outer and middle bolts are accessible from the outside when the slide is out. They are also carriage bolts, so if they are not disturbed, then no problem. But I don't know how to access the inner-most bolts, or generally access below the slide from the interior of the motorhome.

I wrote to Jayco, and they were helpful with regards to the construction of the walls, but not the floor area of the slides.

So I'm looking online at the inside of a '17 29MV and although I have a '16 31FK it looks like our slideouts are pretty much the same. I yanked the jack-knife and put in the recliners. I did things a little differently than what you're proposing and I don't recall what I did about those bolts. As mine too would have been inaccessible.

But are you just asking in case the inner carriage bolts slip while you're removing the nuts? If so, what about putting a light clamp on the top of the bolt with vise grips or a needle nose while you work the nut off?

I did this a few years ago, but I'm pretty sure I had no problems with the factory bolts when I removed the jack-knife. I kind'a remember worrying about what you're saying but I honestly don't recall having a problem. The new seats went in ok.

[ I don't recall middle bolts either. Just outer and inner pairs. ]

Sorry that's not much help...

There are (4) Carriage bolts near the outer wall of the slide that hold the ends of the seat belts. Then there are a pair near the middle of the slide that hold the seats. Then a pair near the innermost area of the slide, that also hold the seats. That last pair are indeed the ones of concern.

Also, I'm having difficulty finding seats that will correctly fit on this narrow slide. The table area is about 6" greater inboard than the carpeted area. I may add a board or steel plate to extend the slide area inward to properly support the chair frames.

I plan to use Lambright chairs and note that they also will install wheels to support the front of the chair frame, beyond the slide inner face, for such a situation of a short slide.

My 2015 29MV has the same layout as your 2017. I replaced the sofa with Recpro Charles 58” powered double rv wall hugger recliner sofa loveseat in cloth $1591. That was 3 years ago so I have no doubt is more expensive now. I farmed out the installation so I can't help with those inner bolts. They installed a piece of 3/4" plywood to extend the slide.

That's what I did - the 3/4" plywood. I removed the jack-knife and used the existing bolts to bolt down the plywood. Then the RecPro recliners are bolted to the new plywood. Two downsides: the recliners extend an inch or two beyond the slide base and in-between the slide height and the new ply, it's a little bit of a hop up to get into them. Still, way better than the awful jack-knife.

Take a close look at the carpeted strip that faces the inside. I have a 2024 29V Odyssey and I was led to believe that there are screws holding that strip in place. The carpet may hide them.

We have a 2024 Greyhawk MV29 that came with the tri-fold couch. We had one of the companies that manufacture furniture for Jayco build one of the dual theater recliners for us (fit perfect) (thousands $$$$ cheaper than the dealer we purchased the RV from). The tri-fold couch was held down with screws and we installed the theater seats with screws. I recommend you recline the seats and lay down on the floor and look and feel for the screws through the seat frame.

This is correct. Use a magnet to just get down there and search around the edges. There are screws hidden by the carpet that allow you to take the whole front strip off. While you’re in there check the bolts on your slide mechanism.

I replaced the factory love seats in our 2021 Greyhawk Prestige 29MVP with the RecPro 58" powered double recliner several years ago.

I don't recall any problems removing the original seats and may have added a plywood base (don't recall) but needed to add a filler piece to anchor the front of the new seats. I covered the brackets and filler piece with a piece of carpet (2nd picture). We've been very happy with the replacement.
