2018 321RSTS Wall Cave In

We have a 2018 Jayco Eagle 321RSTS with an issue with the wall between the entry door and the slide out. There's an area that seems to be caving in slightly on the inside and caving out a little on the outside. I've checked the roof and there doesn't seem to be any damage or water intrusion. I'm thinking it may be the awning not being installed correctly and pulling on the wall.
Any thoughts?

Not that I have answer but I'm curious, in what way do you think the awning was installed incorrectly that would lead to this condition. I believe the wall is constructed with aluminum components and the inner and outer walls are bonded to those components. Also, when stowed the weight of the awning would be supported by the arms at the bottom, not directly by the wall. When extended any pull load would be transferred to the wall along the length of the awning via the external extrusion the awning slides into. That's all based on it being a manual extend awning.

It was just a thought. Maybe if the bolts did not hit the metal studs and hit the outside cladding instead, it would pull on the foam inner core. I was just wondering if anyone else is seeing this issue.

It is hard to say from those images what is really happening. I think I would start by contacting Jayco and ask for the wall drawing schematic. This will show you where the frame members should be and how they are fastened. Have your vin number handy when you contact Jayco.

After studying the drawings and some investigation work (stud finder/tap test, maybe thermal imaging), you could see if there is a missing or unsecured brace.

Not sure when Jayco changed the warranty to "2+3". But the 3 year portion is on the structure.

X2, cannot nit-pick them or you will be unhappy forever. After purchase, make it yours, by fixing little flaws like you want. Soon it will all come together and you will be done.

Maybe your unit was built by the same idiot that built mine. The wall of my 2018 Pinnacle 36KPTS was not screwed to the outermost floor joist (aluminum rectangular tubing) between the rear wall of the basement and the rear of the front raised floor section (6 to 7 ft.). As a result a gap between the stair treads and the floor outside the bathroom opened up and fluctuated between 1/8" to 1/2" wide. The dealer confirmed through Jayco that the two structual components should have been attached and they added the appropriate screws. This was after I demanded a written approval that the trailer was safe to tow from Jayco (we were wintering in AZ at the time, 1500 miles from home). Your problem might just be the same?

Check the mount where the top awning bracket is secured to the wall and make sure its sealed good. I say this with a similar issue last year on my Hybrid. My bracket mounts higher to into the corner of the roof through the roof trim. THe lag bolts had nothing sealant wise on them and water would seep in via the bolts and run down the inside of the wall. I noticed this after finding a rusty water mark on the inside wall coming from a valance screw.
Since mine is anchored at the roof line, the water also seeped into the OSB roof panel and softened it as well. Arrg!

This a picture of my back wall, I seen a trim strip that was on the floor that well did not look right, so I pulled it up, and I find this, a 1 inch gap between the wall and the floor what the ****! A very ****ty cut trimming the floor before the back wall was attached---make me mad as **** WTFO ---so I looked at it to try to figure out what to do, had no excess from the bottom to do anything just from the top-- so I end up using 6 tubes of caulking and sealants to stabilize the movement of the back wall--- seems to be working--- here's a few pictures you get the idea and a couple of photos finishing up.

And the poop just keeps showing up in the workmanship---

Wow, it is very poor workmanship I just hope when I get mines back it's not like that but they are replacing the back wall so I'm hoping I want find nothing else.

It's crazy you pay all of this money and you would think that it will be better than this.

And your warranty is up so if you take it to the dealer they are going to act like that they don't know you and want to charge you a bunge of money.
