I haven't made any changes to mine, but there is a 'zoo' of different LED lighting products to chose from.

I have made contact with Dometic-Atwood and once the replacement sail-switch is made available & installed, there will then be further communication on the return air subject.

Rustic Eagle, did you come up with any solution to the furnace problem? We have a new 2020 24RBS with the same set up. I am thinking or adding a vent on the bottom of the couch so that the return air has a straight shot at the opening of the wooden box. If there is 2 inches of clearance between the top of the box and the bottom of the sofa, why not raise the top of the box about 1.5 inches to allow air to go over the top of the furnace easily? Jay

Jay,

First, I installed the new sail switch a week ago and seems to have taken care of my furnace ignition issue. Dometic-Atwood did confirm receipt of my info/pics, but we agreed to get the furnace running reliably before addressing the cold air return questions I raised...., I now plan to follow-up with Dometic-Atwood this week on the subject.

Yes, I have some ideas for (cold) air return venting (direct to blower motor louver area), and look forward to Atwood's response. I want to insure that I'm interpreting their furnace installation specifications correctly in relation to clod return air venting.

I wouldn't raise the wood box any closer to the bottom material of the jack-knife couch, I would maintain the OEM clearances presently in place.

I tend agree that a return air vent of adequate size (lower left front of couch) would be more effective than the gap between sofa/wall of getting air to the existing front grill on the wood box......, especially when the jack-knife is in the bed position (wall gap closed).

Atwood states that a return air vent should be located 2ft or more away from a floor warm air discharge vent.

I'd be cautious making any alterations during your warranty period without some contact with your RV dealership or Jayco customer support.

Thank you Rustic Eagle for the reply. We don’t use the furnace a whole lot, instead we use portable electric heaters and “free” power from the campground. Right now we are still trying to figure out where to put everything that we take with us. I have a lot of other much higher priority mods to do, so this is a back burner item. Please keep all of us informed about what happens with your furnace. Jay

Yes, and Yes.

The topper notably reduces the heat within the slide area on those hot sunny days, protects the slide roof and the horizontal wiper seal.

Note: Make sure the topper length is sized per the topper manufacture's sizing chart..., don't accept an undersized (length) topper.

Great thank you both for your input. I'll be picking up the TT on Wednesday so they won't have enough time to add it. Will probably install myself anyways as I was quoted 3x the price of the part for install.

I would recommend waiting a few weeks before you install your topper. Get a couple camping outings under your belt insuring proper slide operation, no leaks, and related slide seals are functioning correctly.

Confirm that the slide's vertical and horizontal wiper seals overlap in the two top corners resulting in no open gaps (per Jayco owners manual). Also, confirm that the "cheap" black tape running along the slide roof (covers trim flange screw heads) isn't peeling up..., not an uncommon issue on new units.

Hi Bob- Can you tell me where you located 12v for your rear storage area light? Figured you tapped in somewhere in the kitchen but thought I'd ask before hunting.

I routed the light wires into the outside accessed frig area:

Brought light wires (red) through common wall between two spaces in question. If you run the same color wires from the light fixture, mark the 12V positive wire before pulling wires through wall (I used a piece of electrical tape)

Landed negative ground light wire (yellow connector) at existing screw.....

Spliced positive light wire (blue connector) with existing hot 12V wire.

I've been looking into improving air circulation on warm days while dry camping (no gennie for AC), and it seems that the maxxair (now on maxxair3) provides good airflow with low-ish current draw. Someone reported ~2.5 A on highest power, while our OEM is 1.3 A (by my measure). Can you attest to your maxxair being a significant improvement over our OEM fan despite being a little higher on the amp draw?

The Maxxair product you are referring to from my thread is my Maxxair hinged roof vent 'cover'....., the new upgraded vent fan I installed is a Vortex II vent fan by Heng's Industries (reference post #66 this thread).

The Vortex II vent fan (3-speed forward/2-speed reverse) is a great fan, and the best thing I did for moving air. Plus with the Vortex II you don't have to remove the cheap OEM fan assembly from the roof top OR install the new Vortex II from the top of the roof...., total R&R was from the inside. I believe the Vortex II amp draw ranges from 0.8 to 1.4 amps.

On those hot muggy days boondocking I'll run the Vortex II and/or my Fan-Tastic Endless Breeze box fan at low speeds...., both are low amp draw units.

Replaced the cheap bathroom faucet with a Glacier Bay from Home Depot today. Pretty straight forward. Had to use clear silicone on the pop up drain rod since its not used. Thanks Bob for the inspiration...Wife says if Bob can do it so can you..lol

outside sink/ stove

Hi , I have to remove the outside drawer on my Jayco 24RBS. You had taken yours out and mentioned it was a simple process. Would you be able to tell me how to take it out? Its on a sliding rail ,and I'm hoping its much like taking a utensil drawer out. We store our trailer at the place we camp, and its a 3hr drive, so i can only work on it when we are there.That information would speed up the repair process.

Been a few years since I removed mine, but the first thing you will need to do is disconnect the water lines, drain connections, etc......, basically anything that would interfere with pulling the entire drawer assembly straight out from the TT.

On "each side" of the wood drawer frame there is a metal slide rail assembly that has a black plastic 'finger lever' that will release the drawer assembly from the stops..., move & hold both black levers simultaneously until you get past the stops...., NOTE: The drawer assembly is heavy and a little awkward so be prepared once the drawer assembly is pulled past the stops.
