**** all,

I just insalled a solar panel on my 2021 Alante. When I connected the two prewired connections on the roof and the cables that were run to the compartment where the house battery and propane tank are locted, the solar panel started to charge the house batter instantly.

My question/issue has to do with the other four cables (2 black and 2 white) that were tethered to the two prewired solar cables. I assume two of these cables get connected to the solar controller (see attached picture) in order to use the solar chargeded battery for things such as lights & outlets? The four aforementioned black and white cables have no power to them. Is there something and/or a step I am over looking? Is there anything I need to turn on and/or activate in order for two of these cables to receive power?

As it is installed now, I can only use the solar panels to charge the house battery and maintain it charged. I cannot take advantage of the solar panel charging the battery to use the battery for lights and/or outlets inside the coach.

Thank you all in advance.

Esqui

Esqui, Looking at the charge controller, assuming the brown and blue wires are the house battery positive and negative respectively, then the solar should be charging the house battery, which you seem to have indicated. The last two connections on the charge controller are simply 12v load connections, if you wanted to power something that was not attached to the house battery, this is where you connect it. It is not necessary to hook anything to it, if you do not have that requirement.

My recommendation is to reach out to Jayco Motorized customer service and ask for the wiring diagram for the solar prep. This should show what those wires are connected to.

Lastly, you mentioned twice "lights and outlets" while referring to the solar/battery connections. I want to make sure you understand that the lights are 12v DC and run off the house battery, but the outlets are 120v AC and run off the Power Pedestal or the generator. There are a few outlets that can receive power from the inverter (Passenger outlet, TV outlets, CPAP outlet, etc...), which takes 12v DC from the house battery and converts that to 120v AC for those outlets. The Inverter has to be on in order for those outlets to work, so make sure to turn it on at the main panel inside where the slides and other controls are.

No idea what the 4 wires are for, Jayco can answer that, but if the solar controller is charging the battery, then the lights and the outlets on the inverter will work. Nothing else needed for that, but contact Jayco and determine what those 4 wires are for to know if you want/need them for something.

Thank you for the quick reply. I will reach out to Jayco to see if the wiring diagram points out what the other four cables that have no power running to them is for.
