First time TT owner. Crazy situation I had going on i thought everyone should hear about the response or lack of response i should say. We went on our first trip over the holiday. i spent a lot of time running through all the systems and doing the pre-checks before we headed out. This is a brand-new trailer so I wanted to make sure i knew how everything worked and if we had an issue i could get it taken care of before we headed out. So the first camping trip every Rv owner dreams of is finally here. We get everything loaded 2 days before i hook up pull the camper on level ground and fill my water tanks. Checked my water level and all the other pre- trip items. Everything was full and secured time to hit the road! drove 2.5 hours to our spot in the mountains back in and get set up. This is supposed to the part where you crack a cold one and enjoy nature right? Wrong! i realized my water tank was only 1/3 full. I'm thinking how is this possible? I triple checked this specific item because we were Boone docking. lucky for me I had to head back to town for work so I could correct what i thought was my mistake. I happen to have 15 gallons of extra water so i filled it back up and my tanks were again magically full. water was coming out of the overflow on the line under my trailer. fast forward 2 days later and im heading up for and my wife calls me to tell me tanks are about empty! i thought to myself how is this possible? do i have a leak in the system? lucky for me my FIL was camping with us gave everything a solid look over. He even went as far as to check the under belly to make sure it was dry. Mind you this camper has 2 38-gallon tanks, and my wife has camped in an RV most of her life so she knows the golden rule about water usage. So, I called Jayco while I still had service to find out what the heck could be wrong and the response, I got was comical to say the least, they said the two lines are my overflow lines for the tanks and when you drive with a full tank it will siphon out of tank and cause the water level to drop. I've never owned a TT, but I've been a heavy equipment mechanic for 15 plus years, so I know a thing about fluid dynamics. I asked them why the **** they didn't put a petcock on those lines to keep that from happening?Also why did they just leave them open so dirt could get in my tanks? I was told they recommend I fill up closer to my destination so that doesn't happen! I live in the PNW where you are lucky if you have a pit toilet within 5 miles that's not an option. I'm going to install petcocks on those overflow tubes because the tank already has a vent by the filler neck. I'm honestly trying to figure out what the point of the overflow tubes are when just about every other RV maker uses the fill tube as the overflow! Frustrating to say the least and that will be the last time I let that happen! Anyone every had to dealer with some crazy nonsense like that?
