Hello all,
Has anyone added the 3rd A/C on a 2025 Eagle with 3rd A/C prep? This is a new feature on the later 2025 models like November build and forward. The factory 3rd A/C installed option uses a ducted ceiling assembly and controlled by the BMPRO. Also a dealer told me it joins into the supply ducting like the other 2 units. So I had a Mach 8 heat pump installed. But found it only comes out the ceiling assembly dump vents. So I removed the ceiling assembly and found no supply ducts. Could they be behind these wood panels in the pictures? The panels just stapled in.

I'm not sure how Jayco typically does their A/C preps. Either they missed cutting holes for the ducts, they let the installer do that or it doesn't actually tie into the other ducts unless factory installed.

Thanks,
Earl

Sure looks like ducting behind that luan panel in the corner of the first pic. Do you get air out of there with one of the other units running? You just need to remove that panel that's stapled in.

No I don't feel any air but they could have taped the ends of the ducts. I don't know if those gaps are showing the hole that the ducts are in or if it's just the rafter framing. I'm hopeful the ducts are behind it. But trying to confirm before I start digging into it. I wouldn't think the factory would only install duct tie-ins if the unit was installed at the factory vs just the prep. Unfortunately the tech that installed the unit should have known better. Guess he just wanted it done whether correct or not. If no ducts, it's not the correct ceiling assembly. If no one chimes on with experience on it, I will order a cheap bore scope and see what I can see in those gaps and in the ducting to see if there is an intersection.

Thanks,
Earl

I added my 3rd AC and went with a direct dump for maximum AC when I need to use third AC or for quick cooling.

Info in this thread :Pinnacle 3rd A/C Unit
Yes, definitely an option and the only option if there aren't ducts. I prefer ducting as it's substantially quieter. Also this unit has heat pump and heat strip. So it will get used with the 2nd unit as it's heat pump and heat strip too. The main unit is just cool only. I will eventually swap it out for a heat pump with heat strip too. Also the 3rd unit on my floor plan is close to an interior wall and with a direct discharge, it will pound the wall and likely make more noise, unfortunately. I definitely understand your choice as ducting is highly restricted. Had this been just a cool only unit for extra capacity help, I'd just direct discharge it too as it wouldn't be needed often or for long periods.

Thanks
Earl

I had emailed the installing dealer. They called me this afternoon. They agree that it should be ducted. They believe the tech forgot to remove the wood panels to expose the ducts. I will try confirm with a bore scope I have on order.

I will update this thread when I confirm if there is or isn't ducts so others are aware.

Thanks,
Earl

Update,
I couldn't find any ducting connections with my bore scope. I emailed Jayco and they informed me that the 3rd A/C is direct dump only and sent me build prints showing as such. They also informed me that whether it was factory installed or just prep, it would be direct dump. This is across all Eagle 5th wheels with 3rd A/C prep. So I ordered the correct ceiling assembly for ductless. The units I saw with factory installed 3rd A/C have ducted ceiling assemblies. I informed Jayco that they are installing the incorrect ceiling assemblies. Using the ducted ceiling assembly on a ductless install would kill the performance as well as create noise. They said they would pass my information along.

Thanks,
Earl

Today I installed the deluxe ductless ceiling assembly. The deluxe model has two adjustable vents that can be used to direct some downward air flow. They are closed in the pic.
