24FBS bed pedestal storage door(s)

Anyone out there with a newer model 24FBS have pictures they'd be willing to share of a door or two they installed in the front bed pedestal?

I added a center partition to reinforce the bed base. Since we tossed the standard mattress for a queen with a topper, with the 100# struts, the bed base won't stay up unless I prop it. To save some wear and tear on the front hinges and such, think a single door on the end, or one on either side might be the ticket to more easily access that underbed storage area.

If one of you inmates DID this mod, where did you get the door(s)? Are various sizes available from Jayco so that maybe I can match the color scheme of the rest of the interior?

Thanks!

Bend- Haven't done that mod but in ours with the bed made you can't really hardly see under the foot of the bed cause the spread hangs down. So....if you put in some doors that weren't quite matching, you may not even see them.
Good luck working on that mod.
Is there enough room to get around the foot of the full queen bed? Did you add additional platform and support?

Happy RVing,
Jeff

Good evening, Jeff...

Yes, that additional support was the very first mod I did. I ran a cross piece from side to side, leaving a small well in the pass-through...so it now looks like a 'T' with a short tail. Ran some paneling across to further provide some additional strength and "draft control" from the pass-through. Also strengthened the three supports that run front to back. All in all, much more sturdy!

Yes, there's adequate room to get past the bottom of the queen mattress. On our prior front bedroom Jayco, it WAS a challenge getting past the bottom but the 24FBS appears to have an extra foot or so of room.

Point taken on hiding a door with the bottom of the spread. I'm not looking tp put in a full-sized door; however, it might easier to do one on the right side (facing front) just for ease of access. Nothing big or heavy is going under there, just something so I don't have to fight the weight of the mattress on the platform when opening. (I put heavier hinges on as well on the front of the platform...)

I also modded in a shelf above the microwave where it was blanked off with paneling beforehand. Just for light stuff like paper towels etc. I also hinged the panel where you access the hot water heater. Lastly, I ditched the outdoor kitchen (which is a notorious water leaker from pulling in and out) for some extra storage space. Nothing heavy but odds and ends that might be needed once in awhile.

Cheers!

If you get a chance post some pics of your mods
